I am Loretta Schwarz, Professional Seamstress, home-based business owner known as Loretta’s Closet. In 1952, I entered the Professional Seamstress career by joining the Jacqueline Dress Shop Alterations Department in downtown Portland. I was 19 years old then; however, with my training in 4-H program at 10 years old and 4 years of high school Home Economics, I knew I could alter those high fashion garments. Since I love classic styles, designer fabrics and excellent workmanship, I joined the Tanner Company of North Carolina in 1980 as a Doncaster Fashion Consultant.
Due to lovely fabrics, classic designs, and great construction, I was hooked. I served as a Doncaster Fashion Consultant for 25 years. I provided alteration services at no costs for the clothes I sold..In addition, I did sewing projects for family, friends and others.
After doing the alterations for my Doncaster Clients for 25 years, in 2008 I joined Professional Referrals Oregon (PRO), an organization established to increase the member’s business through forming long professional relationships and sharing qualified referrals. In PRO at every weekly meeting we give referrals and during the week we carry with us a portfolio of all business cards, so we can refer business to our fellow PRO members during the week. PRO is a wonderful referral group to belong to due to love, support and respect so that we can help each one build their business.
Professional Business Life for 35 years:
My Professional Business life of 35 years is as follows: I retired as a Financial Manager of Indian Health Service, retired Fashion Consultant with Tanner Company of North Carolina, retired Chairman of City of West Linn Budget Committee, retired Treasurer of Skyline Ridge Neighborhood Association, retired Treasurer of West Linn Historical Association, Past President of Soroptimist International of Portland, retired Past President of Oregon Trail Toastmistress Club and Oregon City Toastmasters Club, Past President of American Society of Women Accountants, Past President of West Linn Chamber of Commerce, Honored in 1985 as Federal Employee of the Year, 22 years active member of New Hope Community Church and weekly attendee of Women’s Bible Study Group.
